United Airlines returned a flight to Las Vegas on Saturday night after crew members reported a security issue involving a passenger. The aircraft had departed for Newark, New Jersey, but turned around and landed back in Las Vegas less than an hour later, according to flight tracking data from Flightradar24. All 150 people on board landed safely.

Las Vegas police detained a 25-year-old man following the incident. He was booked on charges of making a threat or providing false information regarding an act of terrorism. The police department did not release specific details about what the passenger said or did. An attorney representing the man did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

The Federal Aviation Administration stated that the flight crew reported a passenger disturbance. The agency confirmed it is investigating the event. In an email to The Associated Press, the FAA noted that there have been more than 1,400 unruly passenger incidents in the United States so far in 2026. United Airlines described the event as a potential security concern.

The flight was originally scheduled as a late-night departure. It sat on the ground overnight before leaving for Newark on Sunday morning. The man’s first court appearance is set for Tuesday in Las Vegas.
